Sleep Apnea Dentist Treatments

At Great Neck Dental Arts - Dr. Jeffrey L. Rubin DMD, we provide sleep apnea dentist treatments for those living with constant fatigue. You may have obstructive sleep apnea if you cannot stay awake or focus during the day, fall asleep while driving, or cannot stay up past dinner. As a family dentist, we have found that many people suffer from obstructive sleep apnea because their lower jaw and tongue fall backward at night, obstructing the airway. This forces a person to gasp for air throughout the night, reducing their total oxygen intake and causing immense fatigue. If this sounds like you, call our general dentist office at (516) 301-9032 and schedule an examination. We can fit you for a SomnoDent® dental appliance that can help to keep your airways open so you can breathe freely.

Sleep Apnea Dentist Treatments: What You Should Know

  • Dental appliances are quiet, emitting no noise, so you can sleep comfortably without disturbing your partner.
  • Our sleep apnea dentist treatments are non-invasive.
  • Dental appliances are easy to travel with because they are small and can be tossed in your purse or carry-on bag.
  • SomnoDent® dental appliances are created using an impression taken of your mouth. This along with measurements ensure that the fit is entirely comfortable and that it will not become loose while you sleep.

As a sleep apnea dentist, the oral appliance we give you will keep your lower jaw and tongue in the forward position so your airway remains clear throughout the night. This CPAP alternative is affordable and convenient.

How do I know if I have sleep apnea?

If you have any of the symptoms mentioned above, call our office for a dental exam. As a provider of preventative dental care, we can perform a dental cleaning and examinations to ensure you do not have any physical problems with your mouth that need to be addressed. For example, if you have an infected tooth and need endodontics care or a root canal treatment, this could be causing discomfort and impacting your sleep. Simultaneously, if you have cavities and need dental fillings or gum disease and need periodontics care, that could also be the reason for your irritation. If none of these factors exist, we may recommend an at-home sleep study to evaluate your breathing habits so we can properly diagnose you. If your test results indicate sleep apnea, we can begin to fit you for a SomnoDent® dental appliance.

What else can you help me with?

As a Great Neck, NY cosmetic dentist office, we also specialize in dental restorations. We can provide you with dental crowns, dental bridges, dental implants, dentures and partial dentures, dental fillings, dental veneers, teeth whitening, orthodontics, dental sealants, and more. As a provider of same-day dentistry services, we can even improve your smile on your lunch break using Zoom teeth whitening. Also, if you are suffering from jaw pain, we are a TMJ dentist offering a non-invasive solution. Whether you need a “dentist near me” to treat your sleep apnea, provide you with preventative care, a tooth extraction, or dental restoration, or need an Invisalign® dentist to straighten your teeth, we can assist you.
